LANGUAGE TIPS FOR THE NEXT THREE
MONTHS:

  • HOME ACTIVITIES FOR SPEECH SOUNDS:
    • Create a sound book: find
      words or pictures in the newspaper or magazines that contain his/her
      target speech sound.
    • Read comics and find the words that contain his/her target
      sound.
    • Have a scavenger hunt: search
      for food items that contain his/her sound while grocery shopping.
  • HOME ACTIVITIES FOR LANGUAGE
    SKILLS:

    • LEAP YEAR IDEAS:
      • What are all the things that
        leap/jump?  Where do they live?  How are they
        different/similar?
          (e.g.: deer, frog, grasshopper,
        kangaroo)
      • What are different words for
        jump?
        (e.g.: bound, hurdle, spring, leap, bounce)

    • ST. PATRICK’S DAY IDEAS:
      • Make St. Patrick’s Day
        shakes:
        Print out a recipe and work on following directions;
        talk about colors (if adding green food coloring); talk about flavors
        (add mint extract); talk about the temperature (cold), etc.
      • Starting March 1st:
        Allow your child to “earn” a gold coin when you catch them using their
        good speech/language skills to work for a special St. Pat’s treat.
